Matt Nichols wondrous and enchanting, as if a whole new world full of promise and splendor were presenting itself before your very eyes. a welcome salve in these unwelcome times. it's said that you should "never trust a man with two first names" – an idiom i argue should be updated to "only trust an ambient musician with three first names" [see: Kyle Bobby Dunn]. because S.C.P. has yet to release a mediocre project, regardless of the medium at hand. the guy is unstoppable, excels at everything he does.

Casey McCarthy excellent soundtrack whilst walking alone among the coastal giant redwoods. Mountain Lion deterrent? Musical therapy for the trees? you decide.

luceman This piece reflects an immense talent. I think it is universal heritage and it should be available for any human being who discovers it at any time of his life. The author has the last word, but it makes no sense to hide the sun.

about

Look, this piece will never be played as it was intended. It was composed for three synchronized and semi-prepared Disklaviers. Just to set it up on a large stage would cost about $60,000 just for the pianos. So, how does one write such a piece when they don't have the requisite instruments? They pretend using what they have and improvise a lot. On top of all of that, this piece would be very difficult to play, hence the computer automation of the Disklavier. Even having three machines playing would allow for an unsuitable amount of phasing, without some serious syncing programming effort. I began writing this in 2018 while I was at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, within a year that had a lot of sadness and uncertainty for me, but also a fair share of positive unknowns. When I am stressed out or feeling low, I have this loop a few times in a row and it almost always helped me in some way.

At this moment where all of us are trying to figure out what this world will look like in a few weeks/months/years, I thought it was finally time to share this with the world.

The title of this piece is named after an orphaned, baby elephant that had its leg caught in a poacher's snare in 2015. The leg was almost amputated with the wire cutting to the bone. He was rescued and was given loving care by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya and now is working towards being released back into the wild. More about him here. www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/mwashoti

Stay safe and healthy out there...
